This is the nightsky with an average aurora appearence. I worked the contrasts in such a way that this image depicts reality as close as possible. This was shot at a moonless night at a new moon so there was even no moonlight coming over the horizon. If you are lucky your eyes will pick up the colour but that needs a fairly bright aurora which this one was still getting to be. So this is what you are about to see unless there is a lot of energy in space.
Blue
First time in Kätkavaara. The snow was very thick and on our way descending the hill this huge wall of light rose up. By the time the camera was ready again the height had halved but it was still impressive. Lapland Welcome still uses this photo on a leaflets frontpage.
